Managing Director, NewTelco
Georgia

I hold a university degree in mathematics.

Though formally trained in mathematics, my path has always led through the evolving landscapes of information technology and telecommunications — a journey that began in the early days of post-Soviet innovation and continues to this day.

I have been deeply involved in telecom innovation since the early 1990s. My journey began with connecting post-Soviet Georgia to the rest of the world via satellite — the country’s first direct international telephone link.

In the mid-90s, I was among the pioneers of computer-telephony integration, working with Dialogic boards to develop some of the first CTI applications on the market.

From 2000 to 2004, I was an early advocate of VoIP, engaging in voice traffic exchange with major telcos, including Teleglobe. Between 2004 and 2010, I served as CEO of Georgian Railway Telecom, where I led the development of a fiber-optic backbone along Georgia’s railway network, linking the country to Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. In 2008, we were the ones who connected the Caucasus Cable System subsea cable (CCS) to the region’s terrestrial networks.

Since 2011, I’ve partnered with Danish investors and the NewTelco GmbH team to launch and operate the first carrier-neutral colocation and data center facility in the region — a milestone in Georgia’s digital infrastructure.

Recently, particularly during the pandemic, I’ve focused on IoT innovation and LPWAN deployments, working on scalable, low-power connectivity solutions across the region.
